I Want to Keep Master Wheeler's Dream Alive!

Master Allen Wheeler wanted to ensure that his students integrated the DSI sciences into their Isshinryu training and there is more work to be done!

Why did Master Wheeler travel over 6 hours to Waynesboro, Virginia to bring Grandmaster Rick Moneymaker to his school? Why did he drive all that way instead of picking up the telephone and calling? Because it was important to him to make sure he got a "Yes!" from the Dragon Society International.

We at the DSI deeply loved Master Wheeler as many of you still do. We want to honor his memory by completing the mission he gave us to do. We want to bring Martial Science back to our Isshinryu family.

After over 100 seminars conducted by Professor Moneymaker at his school, bringing back the ancient secrets of the Martial Arts and demonstrating that they are indeed hidden within the Isshinryu system, Master Wheeler wanted to award Professor Moneymaker with any rank he wanted in the Isshinryu system. Respectfully, Professor Moneymaker tried to decline so as not to upset other high ranking masters in the art. After Master Wheeler's relentless insistence, Professor Moneymaker agreed to a 5th Degree Black Belt in Isshinryu Karate. Later the OKU, promoted Professor Moneymaker to 6th Dan. Why would Master Wheeler offer something so unheard of? Because he knew that the DSI held the secret of unlocking the Isshinryu kata and this was far more important than simple repetition of basic techniques and kata performances.

So where do we go from here? Let's do what Master Wheeler wanted. Let's continue the advancement of our beloved art. The first step is to become refreshed with what we have already shared. From there, we are standing by to resurrect the live training via seminars.

For some time, we at the DSI have observed the developments in the Isshinryu community and frankly, we believe we have more work to do. Many people have come and gone since we made that commitment to spread DSI technology to the Isshinryu world. Many were never fortunate enough to meet Master Wheeler and learn of his vision for Isshinryu.

Now, we are not saying that Isshinryu is not good enough by itself or anything negative like that. All we are saying is that many in the Isshinryu community have not learned the more advanced applications in the system.

Master Wheeler wanted to ensure that his organization was set apart from other groups and he believed wholeheartedly that Martial Science from the DSI was the answer.

So much knowledge is being lost and we want to plug the holes as we were asked to do!

At his funeral, Mrs. Wheeler told Grandmaster Patrick that her husband would have her read from Mr. Patrick's book, Advanced Martial Science, to him every night before bed. Even when he could no longer read himself, he wanted to continue his growth in the art. Now, that is a leader and an amazing example!

To fulfill the mission that he gave us to do, the DSI has created the most advanced book detailing the pressure points of the body, their locations, effects of strikes from both a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective and the Modern Western Medicine (MWM) explanation, and so much more! We have spent the last decade plus developing our system and now we want to share it with the Isshinryu community.
